You need to make sure you\u2019re spending time <a href=\"https:\/\/mention.com\/en\/blog\/networking-pr-tools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">building relationships<\/a> that bring your team closer to meeting its goals.<br \/>\nYou need to <a href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">make sure your influencers are relevant<\/a> to your campaign.<br \/>\nWhen you\u2019re <a href=\"https:\/\/mention.com\/en\/blog\/influencer-strategy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">building the influencer strategy<\/a> for your next round of marketing outreach, here\u2019s what to look for in the pros you add to your outreach list:<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Want to&nbsp;do target better influencers&nbsp;for your next campaign? Relevance<\/h2>\n<p>The very first thing to ask yourself is <strong>whether or not that person\u2019s audience would even care<\/strong> about anything you\u2019re doing.<br \/>\nYou\u2019re working with influencers in order to take advantage of their clout and audience. But if that clout and audience is in a field that has <em>nothing<\/em> to do with your brand, you won\u2019t get much of an advantage.<br \/>\n<strong>An ideal influencer will talk about the topic you\u2019re pitching already<\/strong>, or at least something very similar. An engaged community<\/h2>\n<p>Some people have huge social media audiences full of people who don\u2019t really care. <strong>A big reach doesn\u2019t necessarily mean influence. <\/strong>You want to make sure a person\u2019s followers, subscribers, etc. <em>actually listen<\/em> to what they\u2019re saying and put some stock in the information.<br \/>\nIf you\u2019re looking to convert people or start conversations, it\u2019s important that every influencer you work with has the ability to do so. They need to actually move people to action, whether that\u2019s making a purchase, sharing something on Facebook, or visiting your website.<br \/>\nLook at the likes, shares, replies, comments, etc. they receive on social media and their website to see what kind of engagement they usually get. You also want to see what those reactions say &#8211; can you see if they\u2019re they driving people to action?<br \/>\n[Tweet &#8220;You need to make sure people on your influencer outreach list actually influence decisions.&#8221;]<br \/>\nTry to find evidence that they\u2019ve actually influenced their audience. If they\u2019ve done previous endorsements or partnerships, see what their audience\u2019s reaction was.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Supports your campaign\u2019s goals<\/h2>\n<p>A <a href=\"\/?page_id=620\">social media influencer<\/a> may have limited benefits for a campaign focused on improving SEO rankings of a certain landing page. If they\u2019re influence is only on social media and not other websites, there\u2019s only so much they can do for that campaign.<br \/>\nBut if you\u2019re running a social campaigns where you want follows, comments, and shares, an influential website is only as good as its social media profiles. List out the different important KPIs, like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Backlinks<\/li>\n<li>Sales\/conversions<\/li>\n<li>Email subscribers<\/li>\n<li>Social shares<\/li>\n<li>Traffic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Then you\u2019ll want to tie each of those campaign metrics to an influencer metric. For example, the influencer metric for backlinks could be domain authority, and total reach would help predict social shares.<\/p>\n<h2>4. Previous collaborations<\/h2>\n<p>This isn\u2019t a necessity, but it\u2019s certainly helpful. If you can see that an influencer has worked with or promoted brands before, that\u2019s one less hurdle to face in them saying \u2018yes\u2019 to your outreach pitch.<br \/>\nThat means you only need to convince them to work with you, not the whole idea of promoting a brand like yours in the first place. You only need to sell your specific campaign\u2019s value.<br \/>\nThis also helps ensure that their audience won\u2019t get turned off by a brand collaboration, unintentionally damaging your brand\u2019s reputation.<\/p>\n<h2>5. They\u2019re a good person<\/h2>\n<p>This has less to do with the marketing aspect and more to do with the fact that you\u2019ll be in close contact with the influencers you work with. You don\u2019t want to have to talk to jerks all the time!<br \/>\n[Tweet &#8220;You don&#8217;t want to work with jerks on influencer marketing campaigns.&#8221;]<br \/>\nPlanning your campaign will be way easier when everyone can easily get along, respects each other, and no one acts like an asshole. If you\u2019ve seen anything online to indicate that someone might be difficult to work with, or that you just won\u2019t get along, think twice.<br \/>\nIn some cases, the benefit an influencer can bring to your campaign might outweigh the cons of working with them. But when possible, save yourself the stress.<\/p>\n<h2>There\u2019s more to influencers than influence<\/h2>\n<p>As with every marketing method, there\u2019s way more involved than what\u2019s on the surface. There\u2019s more to influencers than just influencer.
