I admit it: I\u2019m a social media skeptic. If you scroll back far enough in my Twitter profile<\/a>, you\u2019ll see that after my initial curiosity in 2007, my Twitter account was pretty much in a deep sleep until November 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m the kind of guy who looks at social and asks: \u201cWhat\u2019s the ROI of this? Is it worth the time and effort?\u201d I often challenge salespeople to stop wasting time on social<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But if you show me results, I\u2019ll become a believer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of our competitors, RelateIQ, got acquired by Salesforce, which had the effect that they canceled a lot of contracts with their international customers. These companies would need new sales CRM soon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most important skill sales professionals have to master isn\u2019t talking, managing objections, or negotiating. It\u2019s listening!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The same is true for social: It\u2019s tempting to use Twitter, Facebook, and other social platforms as a megaphone to amplify your message. But it\u2019s a lot more powerful to listen and engage in conversations that are already taking place<\/p>\n\n\n\n
