I love talking to our customers at Mention. They always have valuable feedback as to how we can improve, insight into something I never thought of, or amazing stories on how our product has helped them or their brand.
I had such a conversation the other day with Samantha Strom, Co-Founder of Hazel Lane. As someone who’s big on travel and supporting small businesses, I love the concept of Hazel Lane. They deliver the spirit of a U.S. region to you every month in a box. That way, you can get a taste of the local flavor without the travel, or even better, before you take a trip!
When I spoke to Samantha, she shared with me that they used Mention to identify several news stories covering Hazel Lane that they would have never known about otherwise, including in the LA Times, San Francisco Chronicle, American Bride, Huffington Post, BlogLovin, and more.
After discovering these stories, Samantha built relationships with the reporters who covered Hazel Lane and secured additional coverage. Such contacts will come in handy as they continue pushing their product forward. Plus, imagine the holiday coverage opportunity!
Conversely, a journalist could discover products and services to feature using media monitoring. For example, the LA Times reporter that featured HL found them by sifting through AngelList. It would save her a ton of time if she used a tool like Mention to monitor terms relevant to her beat or stories she’s looking to cover. She could get alerted when she receives new mentions or just build the habit of checking her feed into her workflow.
